8895 George Collins Parkway, New Market VA 22844
The site combines an interesting battlefield and a museum highlighting the state's wartime experience. On May 15, 1864, Confederate forces, including a contingent of Virginia Military Institute cadets, turned back Union Gen. Franz Siegel's troops heading south in the Shenandoah Valley. Self-guided battlefield tours include the 19th-century Bushong farm buildings, landmarks on the battlefield. The museum explores the entire scope of the war in Virginia through dioramas and artifacts.
Open 9 am-5 pm daily. $10/adult includes museum and battlefield.
